1. Don’t date someone who’d rather be with someone else. Listen to “Running Scared” by Roy Orbison. It ends happy in the song, but the point is it’s not worth looking over your shoulder in a relationship, hoping his/her ex won’t decide to take them back, and not knowing who your boyfriend/girlfriend would choose: you or the ex. If that’s even a question, you won’t be able to be happy in that relationship.

2. Block and ignore them. Immediately. Don’t engage. It’s a waste of your time.
